Virtual Zoom Training Presented by CAMFT attorney Luke Martin, Esq., CAMFT Staff Attorney, and Co-Sponsored by SFCAMFT

General Information/Description:

Level of Learning: Introductory
This presentation is intended to provide an overview of the licensing process for pre-licensees as they work toward licensure in marriage and family therapy. Topics to be discussed include: the marriage and family therapy licensing process; supervised experience requirements for applicants; supervisor qualifications and supervision requirements; licensing examinations; and common employment issues pre-licensees encounter with their supervisors.

Educational Goals:

Participants will gain a greater understanding of the many challenges facing pre-licensees working toward licensure.

Measurable Learning Objectives:

Participants will be able to:

  • Record the number of hours and the number of weeks of supervised experience required!
  • Identify the “options” for counting hours currently available to pre-licensees
  • Apply how the 90-day rules impact their ability to count hours
  • Differentiate how to advertise themselves in the various stages of licensing
  • Organize their hours by documenting on the correct BBS related forms
  • Review their incremental progress toward licensure and decide on their best strategies to take to complete their 3000 hours

Fees & Continuing Education Credits:

  • 2 CEs, Attending Live: $20 (plus ticket fees)

Course meets the qualifications for 2 hours of continuing education credit for LMFT’s, LCSW’s, LPCC’s and LEP’s as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

Pre-registration is required by September 22, 2023 at 10:00 am.

Training Zoom Link & Zoom Pre-Registration:  Quickly after registering for the event on Eventbrite, you should receive an email from Eventbrite that confirms your registration, and that same email will include the Zoom link for the meeting.  The Zoom link requires all attendees to pre-register to be able to gain access into the Zoom meeting even though you already registered on Eventbrite.  Please allow yourself a few minutes to do this prior to the event start time.

Recording Available: A recording of the training will be available for 21 days and will be sent on a few business days after the actual event to those who registered for the recording option. You may watch the recording and still be eligible to earn CEs as long as you purchased the “viewing recording” ticket option that includes 2 CEs, watch the training, and complete the online evaluation and short quiz within 30 days of the recording becoming available.

How do I get CEs for this event?

Live Attendance:  If you attend live, you must purchase the “attending live” ticket option that includes 2 CEs. Course completion certificates will be awarded after the course in exchange for a completed evaluation form to be done online. To qualify for CE credit, you must arrive on time, stay until the end of the program, and fill out the online evaluation. Your CE certificate will be emailed within 30 business days after the event.

Watch the Recording:  If you are not able to attend the training live, you may watch the recording and still be eligible to earn CEs as long as you purchase the “viewing recording” ticket option that includes 3 CEs, watch the training, and complete the online evaluation and short quiz within 30 days of the recording becoming available.

Presenters:

Luke Matthew Martin, Esq., a member of the State Bar of California since 2011, joined CAMFT as a Staff Attorney in 2019. He holds a Master of Business Administration with honors and a Juris Doctorate Degree specializing in Child, Family and Elder Law with honors. Prior to coming to CAMFT, Luke ran a private practice focusing on civil litigation and represented several businesses with annual revenues in the millions. He has been recognized by the State Bar of California with the Wiley E. Manuel Certificate for Pro Bono Legal Services for his legal assistance in helping victims of domestic violence. In addition to his work at CAMFT, Luke is an adjunct professor for several universities lecturing on political science and business law and sits on University of Arizona’s Faculty Senate.
