Navigating the Road to Licensure

Virtual Zoom Training Presented by Bradley J. Muldrow, Esq., CAMFT Staff Attorney, and Co-Sponsored by SFCAMFT

Training Description:  This training is Ideal for Students, Trainees, Associates, & Supervisors.  The road to licensure is paved with good intentions and lots of regulations. This presentation will provide an overview of key California licensure laws and regulations pre-licensees and their supervisors should understand.

Educational Goals:  Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the California licensure process for marriage and family therapists, the roles and responsibilities of Pre-Licensees and supervisors, and how to navigate common challenges these parties often encounter.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will understand how the BBS counts applicants’ supervised experience hours under the “Option 1” system
  2. Participants will be able to: a) distinguish between the two 90-day rules and the two six year rules; and b) state how these rules impact the licensure process
  3. Participants will be able to identify the work settings in which MFT trainees and associates can accumulate supervised experience hours
  4. Participants will be able to identify the eligibility requirements for, and responsibilities of supervisors
  5. Participants will be able to recognize how BBS waivers have temporarily amended key licensure regulations during the COVID-19 crisis

  • 2 CEs, Attending Live: $10 (plus ticket fees)

The workshop is designed for mental health professionals and provides 2 CEs for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs and LEPs.

Pre-registration is required by Saturday, June 5th at 9am.

As a CAMFT staff attorney, Bradley J. Muldrow, Esq. takes member phone calls regarding law and ethics issues and contributes articles on those subjects to CAMFT’s publication, the Therapist. Prior to joining CAMFT’s legal team, Brad worked on litigation and regulatory matters as an attorney for San Diego Gas & Electric Company.

Since becoming an attorney, Brad has given law and ethics presentations to attorneys and judges as a member of the J. Clifford Wallace Inn of Court. He has also served as a board member for the Earl B. Gilliam Bar Foundation, a San Diego-based nonprofit.

Training Zoom Link & Zoom Pre-Registration:  Quickly after registering for the event on Eventbrite, you should receive an email from Eventbrite that confirms your registration, and that same email will include the Zoom link for the meeting.  The Zoom link requires all attendees to pre-register to be able to gain access into the Zoom meeting even though you already registered on Eventbrite.  Please allow yourself a few minutes to do this prior to the event start time.

Recording Available: A recording of the training will be available for 21 days and will be sent on June 7th to those who registered for the recording option. You may watch the recording and still be eligible to earn CEs as long as you purchased the “viewing recording” ticket option that includes 2 CEs, watch the training, and complete the online evaluation and short quiz within 30 days of the recording becoming available.

How do I get CEs for this event?

Live Attendance:  If you attend live, you must purchase the “attending live” ticket option that includes 2 CEs. Course completion certificates will be awarded after the course in exchange for a completed evaluation form to be done online. To qualify for CE credit, you must arrive on time, stay until the end of the program, and fill out the online evaluation. Your CE certificate will be emailed within 30 business days after the event.

Watch the Recording:  If you are not able to attend the training live, you may watch the recording and still be eligible to earn CEs as long as you purchase the “viewing recording” ticket option that includes 2 CEs, watch the training, and complete the online evaluation and short quiz within 30 days of the recording becoming available.
