Description and Educational Goals: This experiential training is an opportunity for therapists to nourish a connection to the present moment with mindfulness, compassion practices, and community. It’s a chance to take some time for yourself and restore wellness within your body and mind. In this workshop, you will learn and practice essential skills for cultivating resilience and managing stress in both personal and professional contexts. Together we will practice mindfulness and self-compassion practices that are practical and easy for your own wellbeing and also to support the wellbeing of the clients you are serving. It’s a chance to recharge, connect with colleagues, and nourish a connection with your body and mind.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will be able to define mindfulness and be able to implement informal and formal ways of practicing it.
  • Participants will be able to describe 3 benefits and 3 barriers to practicing self-compassion.
  • Participants will understand the 3 components of self-compassion and know how to practice at least 2 self-compassion interventions
  • Participants will be able to recognize and respond to backdraft, the discomfort that can arise when people practice self-compassion
  • Participants will practice and know how to implement 5 self-care practices they can use in response to job and life related stress
  • There will be two fifteen-minute breaks. Light snacks and beverages will be provided. Chairs are provided at the workshop location. You may bring items that help you feel comfortable during mindfulness practices, however, no additional items are necessary.

Presenter Information:

Sarah Carr, LMFT is the Founder and Director of mindfulSF, a wellness center in San Francisco that provides evidence-based treatments for anxiety-related issues and mindfulness and compassion focused training. Sarah has facilitated mindfulness, compassion, and resilience workshops for a wide range of nonprofit and corporate organizations. In her clinical work she specializes in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP). She is a Certified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Teacher through Brown University and has also trained as Mindful Self-Compassion Teacher. Sarah has over a decade of personal experience with mindfulness and contemplative practices and has attended over a dozen multi-day residential mindfulness retreats. She is passionate about supporting other healers with connecting to embodied practices that can support wellbeing, connection, and client care.

  • What’s the refund policy?

All fees are paid to SFCAMFT and are non-refundable.

Pre-registration is required by Thursday August 8, 2024. There is a maximum capacity of 30 participants.

  • How do I receive CEs?

You must register for CEs and participate live and in person for the whole time. A Course Evaluation will be sent to your email after the training. Your certificate will be issued online within 7 days of receipt.

Course meets the qualifications for 4 hours of continuing education credit for LMFTʼs, LCSWʼs, LPCCʼs and LEPʼs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. SFCAMFT (CEU provider #62283) IS APPROVED BY THE CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF MARRIAGE AND FAMILY THERAPISTS TO SPONSOR CONTINUING EDUCATION FOR LMFTʼS, LCSWʼS, LPCCʼS AND LEPʼS. SFCAMFT MAINTAINS RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PROGRAM AND ALL ITS CONTENT.

  • SFCAMFT Members receiving CEs – $50 (plus fees)
  • Non-members receiving CEs – $75 (plus fees)
  • Participants NOT receiving CEs – $40 (plus fees)
