Educational Goals: This course will give an overview of disaster mental health and crisis response. We will look at types of response protocols, community resources and how to get involved. We will look at phases of disaster, the role and function of disaster mental health responders and models of individual crisis response.
1. Identify two phases of a disaster.
2. Recognize the role and function of Disaster Mental Health responders.
3. Recall two crisis intervention protocols
4. Distinguish one model of individual crisis response
Presenter: Wilma Bass, LMFT #21174, has been involved in Disaster Mental Health and Crisis Response in the Bay Area for the past twenty years. She was an active member of the Red Cross Disaster Mental Health Team for almost two decades and participated in numerous crisis responses in the Bay Area. In the mid-90’s she developed an Emergency Response Team for San Francisco CAMFT and led that program for ten years. In 2006, she co-founded Trauma Outreach Associates and served as President of the company. In that capacity she and her contractors provided response and recovery services to businesses, non-profits and government organizations. She is currently the Director and founder of Resilience to Recovery Consulting. Wilma is passionate about and committed to the role of mental health support in disasters and believes in the intrinsic efficacy and benefits of effective mental health responses.

- Studying models of individual crisis response
CEs offered: 2 CEs for $10. All fees are paid to SFCAMFT and are non-refundable. General admission is free.
SF CAMFT is a CAMFT approved CEU provider (#62283). The above course meets the qualifications for two hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs and/or LEPs, as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. If you are interested in obtaining CEUs, you may do so by paying $10 (cash or check) at the beginning of the workshop. To qualify for CE credit, you must arrive on time, sign in at the CE table, stay until the end of the program, sign out at the CE table, turn in the evaluation and pick up your certificate.
SFCAMFT is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs and LEPs of any level of experience, in private practice, non-profit and hospital settings. SFCAMFT maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content.
