This presentation is intended to provide an overview of the licensing process for pre-licensees as they work toward licensure in marriage and family therapy in California and is highly informative for supervisors.

Virtual Zoom Training Presented by CAMFT Staff Attorney Kristin W. Roscoe, Esq., and Co-Hosted by SFCAMFT

Course Description: This presentation is intended to provide an overview of the licensing process for pre-licensees as they work toward licensure in marriage and family therapy. Topics to be discussed include: the marriage and family therapy licensing process; supervised experience requirements for applicants including the AB 690 practice settings changes; supervisor qualifications and new supervision requirements; licensing examinations; and common employment issues pre-licensees encounter with their supervisors.

Educational Goals: Participants will gain a greater understanding of the licensure process, the rules and requirements, and the challenges facing pre-licensees working toward licensure.

Learning Objectives: At the end of the presentation, participants will be able to identify the requirements for counting hours toward licensure. Participants will be able to state the number of hours and the number of weeks of supervised experience pre-licensees are required to meet. Participants will be able to identify how the “new” 90-day rule pertaining to post-degree hours differs from the “old” 90-day rule. Participants will be able to identify appropriate work settings and common labor issues that arise in the employment of pre-licensees.

The workshop is designed for mental health professionals and provides 2 CEs for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs and LEPs.

Pre-registration is required by September 16th at 1:00pm PT.

Training Zoom Link & Zoom Pre-Registration:  Quickly after registering for the event on Eventbrite, you should receive an email from Eventbrite that confirms your registration. The Zoom link or recording will be shared with you closer to the event.

Recording Option Available: A recording of the training will be available for 21 days and will be sent by September 19th to those who registered for the recording option. You may watch the recording and still be eligible to earn CEs as long as you purchased the “viewing recording” ticket option that includes 2 CEs, watch the training, and complete the online evaluation and short quiz within 30 days of the recording becoming available.

How do I get CEs for this event?

  1. Live Attendance:  If you attend live, you must purchase the “attending live” ticket option that includes 2 CEs. Course completion certificates will be awarded after the course in exchange for a completed evaluation form to be done online. To qualify for CE credit, you must arrive on time, stay until the end of the program, and fill out the online evaluation. Your CE certificate will be emailed within 30 business days after the event.
  2. Watch the Recording:  If you are not able to attend the training live, you may watch the recording and still be eligible to earn CEs as long as you purchase the “viewing recording” ticket option that includes 2 CEs, watch the training, and complete the online evaluation and short quiz within 30 days of the recording becoming available.

Presenter Bio:

Kristin W. Roscoe, Esq., CAMFT Staff Attorney, takes CAMFT member phone calls regarding law and ethics issues and contributes articles on those subjects to The Therapist. Before joining CAMFT’s legal team, Kristin represented healthcare systems and professionals in professional negligence litigation at La Follette, Johnson, DeHaas, Fesler & Ames. Since entering the legal profession, Kristin has worked in various capacities presenting to and advocating on behalf of her clients both in and outside of the courtroom. Kristin received her B.A. from The College of Wooster in 2006 and graduated from The American University Washington College of Law with her J.D. in 2012.
